We went on a trip to England and Scotland in 2019. Ever since I read the poem 'Daffodils', William Wordsworth has been my favourite poet. So, it was impossible for me to go to England and not visit his house. As a result, Dove Cottage was included in our tour programme.
Wordsworth's house, named Dove Cottage, is located in the Lake District of England. It is a very beautiful, small stone cottage with a garden in the back. The poet's belongings, bed, and other items are all carefully preserved there. You can tell from the house that he was not very wealthy. In the children's room on the ground floor, the walls were thickly covered with newspapers to protect them from the cold. But everywhere, there was a mark of beautiful taste. It was in this house that he wrote 'Daffodils' and many other famous poems, such as 'The Prelude'
The Lake District is, in a word, as beautiful as a painting. All around, there are fields covered with soft green grass, where sunlight sometimes glimmers, and at other times, thick, ash-colored clouds descend. Countless sheep graze in the fields. It seemed to me that such a place is probably necessary for a Romantic poet to expand their imagination. That's perhaps why Wordsworth made his home in the Lake District.
