England: The House of Sherlock Holmes

In his stories, Arthur Conan Doyle wrote that Sherlock Holmes lived at 221B Baker Street in London. Similarly, Satyajit Ray gave Feluda's address as 21 Rajani Sen Road in Kolkata. But Feluda isn't a real person; he's a detective character created by Satyajit Ray. Because of this, we have no idea what 21 Rajani Sen Road looks like or who lives there.

However, there is a 'Sherlock Holmes's house' on Baker Street. While it's not his actual residence, the Sherlock Holmes Museum is located at 221B Baker Street. When we visited England in 2015, we went to see this museum. It was a very interesting place. All the items that Conan Doyle described Sherlock Holmes using are for sale there. My daughter even took a photo wearing a hat and holding a cane. There are also several posters featuring scenes from the Sherlock Holmes stories.

Near the house, there is a large statue of Holmes. The gate has a picture of him with a pipe in his mouth. Overall, it's a very vibrant and exciting place. After seeing it all, I thought that we could also create something similar for Felu Mitter. If we did, a new name would be added to Kolkata's list of tourist spots.
